GENEROSITY IS LOVE IN ACTION ~ Rick Warren

Leaving a Lasting Legacy – Message 1

“We will not hide these truths from our children but will teach the next generation...”

Psalm 78:4 (NLT)

“Three things continue forever: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.”

1 Cor. 13:13 (NCV)

You can give without love, but You can't love without giving.

WHY MUST WE MODEL & TEACH GENEROSITY?

1. GENEROSITY DISPLAY GOD'S CHARACTER.

Everything from us is a gift from God. God want us to be like this, giving generous.

No people was generous like God, so God want us to be like him.

God give us generously and ungraduatingly.

“We all live o God’s generous bounty, gift after gift after gift.”

John 1:16 (Mes)

“Everything we have has come from you Lord, and we can only give you what is yours already!”

1 Chron. 29:14 (LB)

“You will be glorifying God through your generous gifts.”

2 Cor. 9:13 (NLT)

2. GENEROSITY DEFEAT MATERIALISM.

Get is materialism. To Break materialism is Giving...

“You cannot serve both God and money.”

Matt. 6:24 (NIV)

No man or women can be like God. If you put them first, you will be disappointed.

Let your kids see you giving. Let them see you generous in giving your time, money... Every area of life.

3. GENEROSITY DRAW ME CLOSER TO GOD.

Wherever you put your money, you heart will be also. That's revails your priority and love.

You say you love God, are you spending your time with God?

You say you love your kids, are you spending time with them?

The way we spend our time and money, really proof what's is important to us.

“Your heart will be wherever your treasure is.”

Matt. 6:21 (NCV)

4. GENEROSITY DEVELOPES MY LOVE.

Generosity creates community.

“Your generosity... not only provides for the needs of God’s people, but also produces prayers of thanksgiving to God.”

2 Cor. 9:11-12

“If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.”
1 John 3:17 (Mes)

5. GENEROSITY DETERMINE MY BLESSING.

Refuse to give = Robbing God.

“If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure... and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving will be used to measure what is given back to you.”
Lk. 6:38 (NLT)

Don't let Satan rob you from 1 minute of blessing.

“Give generously ... and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”
Deut. 15:10 (NIV)

6. GENEROSITY DEEPEN MY JOY.

“Jesus said, ‘There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.’”

Acts 20:35 (GN)

7. GENEROSITY DEMONSTRATE MY FAITH.

“Your giving proves the reality of your faith...”

2 Cor. 9:13 (Ph)

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
2 Cor. 9:6-8 (NIV)

Don't ever listen to gossip, sow gossip will reap gossip.

Give it away more which you wish to get back.

You always get back more with what you put in.

 8. GENEROSITY IS DEPOSIT OF INTERNALTY.

“Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...””

Matt. 6:20 (NIV)

“Tell those who are rich not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which will soon be gone... Tell them to use their money to do good. They should give happily to those in need, always ready to share with others whatever God has given them. By doing this they will be storing up real treasure for themselves in heaven – it is the only safe investment for eternity!”
1 Tim. 6:17-19 (LB)

Money is a tools. Use money to love people. Use it for Good.

Anything I give away, bank in heaven, treasure in heaven.

“If you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?”

Luke 16:11 (NLT)
